One of the most popular events The Biff has staged
High School Radio Day is a nationally-recognized event founded by Pete Bowers in 2012. Since his retirement, Pete’s dream to place recognition of high school radio right up next to college radio in popularity with its very own day of celebrity has grown to become High School Radio Week with a genuine broadcast network to go along with it.
Each year, the staff brainstorms to find a unique way to celebrate all that is good about high school radio. On April 26, 2017, which would be Pete’s last official High School Radio Day, all members wanted to throw a Waffle Day. Ronald Wittebols shared his personal recipe and came to work that day with gallons of waffle batter; after having spent the previous night mixing, measuring and packaging.
To say that it was a hit would have been an understatement: over 150 waffles were served with plenty of disappointed patrons when the batter ran out. The mention of Waffle Day evokes happy memories.
